WordGame

The English word games are:

Lettris

Lettris is a curious tetris-clone game where all the bricks have the same square shape but different content. Each square carries a letter. To make squares disappear and save space for other squares you have to assemble English words (left, right, up, down) from the falling squares.

boggle

Boggle gives you 3 minutes to find as many words (3 letters or more) as you can in a grid of 16 letters. You can also try the grid of 16 letters. Letters must be adjacent and longer words score better. See if you can get into the grid Hall of Fame !

アーサー・ウィリアム・ラドフォード(Arthur William Radford, 1896年2月27日 - 1973年8月17日)は、アメリカ合衆国の軍人、海軍大将。アメリカ太平洋艦隊司令長官兼太平洋軍最高司令官、統合参謀本部議長を務めた。

アーサー・ラドフォードは1896年にイリノイ州シカゴで生まれた。メリーランド州アナポリスのアメリカ海軍兵学校を1916年に卒業した後、ラドフォードは戦艦サウスカロライナに乗艦し軍務に就いた。

ラドフォードは第一次世界大戦に従軍した後、1921年に飛行訓練を終え、第二次世界大戦直前の1941年には飛行訓練部隊の司令官に任命された。第二次世界大戦中ラドフォードは1943年に第11空母機動部隊を指揮し、1944年には第6空母機動部隊を指揮。戦後は1948年1月に海軍作戦副部長となった。しかし空軍の巨大戦略爆撃機B-36の配備か、海軍の大型空母ユナイテッド・ステーツの建造かをめぐって海軍の将官たちが民主党トルーマン政権のジョンソン国防長官と対立した「提督たちの反乱」で最強硬派だったラドフォードは、1949年4月に太平洋艦隊司令長官としてワシントンからハワイに転出させられた。しかし共和党アイゼンハワー政権が誕生すると、ラドフォードは海軍作戦部長を経ず1953年8月に第2代統合参謀本部議長に就任し、1957年の退役まで同職を務めた。彼は引退後もアイゼンハワー、ケネディおよびジョンソン大統領にしばしば助言を行った。

ラドフォードはベセスダ海軍病院で1973年に死去した。

ラドフォード提督は現代のアメリカ海軍士官の中で最も偉大な提督の一人だと見なされる。彼は強大な政治力を持ち、おそらくアメリカ合衆国史上最も影響力を持った提督だと考えられる。

近年、アメリカ海軍内の同性愛に関する論争の的になった書籍の中で、ラドフォードは最も著名なゲイの士官であると著述された。1988年には、50年代にラドフォードと関係を持ったと主張するヴァージニアの人物が「OUT!」誌の中でその関係を詳述した。ラドフォードの遺族は彼が同性愛者であるという主張を否定した。元水兵の主張以外にラドフォードがゲイであったという証拠は無い。
