WordGame

The English word games are:

Lettris

Lettris is a curious tetris-clone game where all the bricks have the same square shape but different content. Each square carries a letter. To make squares disappear and save space for other squares you have to assemble English words (left, right, up, down) from the falling squares.

boggle

Boggle gives you 3 minutes to find as many words (3 letters or more) as you can in a grid of 16 letters. You can also try the grid of 16 letters. Letters must be adjacent and longer words score better. See if you can get into the grid Hall of Fame !

诺伯特·维纳对信息的著名定义：“信息就是信息，不是物质也不是能量。不承认这一点的唯物论，在今天就不能存在下去。”这句话深刻揭示了信息的重要地位，信息与物质、能量是客观世界的三大构成要素。[1]

信息的含义

作为一个严谨的科学术语，对信息的定义却不存在一个统一的观点，这是由它的极端复杂性决定的。信息的表现形式数不胜数：声音、图片、温度、体积、颜色……信息的分类也不计其数：电子信息、财经信息、天气信息、生物信息……要对信息作一个严密而又具有普适性的定义，就必须从本质上来把握信息。现在学术界主要有以下几种观点：

狭义定义

英文 information（信息）一词来源于拉丁文informatio，原意是解释、陈述。但是随着人类文明的发展，人们对信息的理解不断深入，主要有以下几种观点

克劳德·艾尔伍德·香农

美国数学家，信息论的奠基人克劳德·艾尔伍德·香农（Claude Elwood Shannon）在他的著名论文《通信的数学理论》(1948)中提出計算信息量的公式，(一個信息由n 個符號所構成，每個符號出現的機率為p)，則有： H = \sum_{k=1}^n p_k log_2 p_k 這個公式和熱力學的熵的計算方式一樣，故也稱為熵 (信息论)。 從公式可知，當機率平均時，「不確定性」(uncertainty)最高，信息熵最大。故信息可以視為「不確定性」或「選擇的自由度」的度量。 (information is a measure of one's freedom of choice when one selects a message)

美国数学家，控制论的奠基人诺伯特·维纳在他的《控制论——动物和机器中的通讯与控制问题》认为，信息是“我们在适应外部世界，控制外部世界的过程中同外部世界交换的内容的名称”。

英国学者阿希贝认为，信息的本性在于事物本身具有变异度。

意大利学者朗高在《信息论：新的趋势与未决问题》中认为，信息是反映事物的形成、关系和差别的东西，它包含于事物的差异之中，而不在事物本身。

广义定义

本体论认为，信息是事物运动的状态和运动的方式，而与是否被他事物所反映无关。

认识论认为，信息是关于事物运动状态和运动方式的反映，而并不是事物运动状态和运动方式的本身。

謝清俊教授在《一個通用的資訊定義》提出了：「資訊即所知表現在媒介上的形式」，或更直接地說「形式即資訊」。

信息的特征

尽管从不同的角度出发对信息存在不同的定义，但是对于信息的一些基本性质还是得到了共识。

  • 普遍性。只要有事物的地方，就必然的存在信息。信息在自然界和人类社会活动中广泛存在。
  • 客观性。信息的客观现实的反映，不随人的主观意志而改变。如果人为的窜改信息，那么信息就会失去它的价值，甚至不能称之为“信息”了。
  • 动态性。事务是在不断变化发展的，信息也必然的随之运动发展，其内容，形式，容量都会随时间而改变。
  • 时效性。由于信息的动态性，那么一个固定的信息的使用价值必然会随着时间的流逝而衰减。
  • 可识别性。人类可以通过感觉器官和科学仪器等方式来获取，整理，认知信息。这是人类利用信息的前提。
  • 可传递性。信息是可以通过各种媒介在人－人，人－物，物－物等之间传递。
  • 可共享性。信息与物质，能量显著不同的是。信息在传递过程中并不是“此消彼长”，同一信息可以在同一时间被多个主体共有，而且还能够无限的复制、传递。

信息的作用

信息是人类认识世界的媒介。信息是事物的普遍属性，人类都是在接受、感知、识别、分析、整理信息的基础上来认识事物的。信息“消除系统不确定性”的重要属性，正是反映了信息在帮助人类认识世界的巨大作用。

信息是人类社会存在的必要条件。人类社会是一个群体性的组织，个体之间如果没有畅通高效的交流方式是不可能凝聚成如此庞大的集体的。而信息正是作为人与人之间唯一的交流方式，将一堆散沙碎石整合成了宏伟的文明大厦。

信息是强大的生产力要素。“Knowledge is power.”弗兰西斯·培根的这句名言正是强调了被人类处理后的信息反过来指导人类改造世界的强大作用。现在我们所说的“信息社会”，“信息化革命”，都是因为信息日益突现的创造性作用正深刻的改变着我们整个世界。
