El Cerro Amarillo es un pequeño cerro ubicado casi en el centro de la comuna de Hualpén, parte del área metropolitana del Gran Concepción, en la Provincia de Concepción, Chile.
Historia
Antiguamente era utilizado por los mapuches como un mirador ante la presencia del invasor, pero recientemente se ha hermoseado como un parque que ocupa la mitad del cerro, y se presta como marco natural para diferentes eventos de la comuna.[cita requerida]
A su alrededor se encuentran el cuartel de la 1ª Compañía de Bomberos de Hualpén (ex 10ª Compañía de Bomberos de Talcahuano), un consultorio de salud, un liceo industrial, la comisaria de Hualpén, la biblioteca municipal, las oficinas del registro civil, la casa ciudadana de Hualpén y otras delegaciones de la comuna. En el año 2004, cuando se revisaban los proyectos sobre dónde se iba a construir la municipalidad de Hualpén, uno de los proyectos más apoyados fue el de construirla en el cerro, pero éste no resultó ganador del concurso, siendo elegido un proyecto que ubicaría la municipalidad junto al Club Hípico.[cita requerida]
El Cerro Amarillo es popularmente conocido por los habitantes de la comuna de Hualpén como el «cerrito de Hualpencillo».[cita requerida]
