Gewebetiere (Eumetazoa) (altgr. εὖ eu gut, echt + μετά (da)nach + ζῷον [zóon], Lebewesen, Tier) sind die Vielzelligen Tiere (Metazoa) mit echtem Zellgewebe. Sie werden deshalb auch Echte Vielzeller genannt. Mit Ausnahme der Schwämme (Porifera) und möglicherweise der Placozoa gehören alle Vielzelligen Tiere zu den Gewebetieren.

Merkmale
Das Taxon der Gewebetiere zeichnet sich durch spezialisierte Zelltypen und echte Gewebe wie beispielsweise Sinneszellen, Nerven- oder Muskelgewebe aus. Epithel- und andere Zellen sind durch spezielle Zell-Zell-Verbindungen, die „Gap Junctions“ verbunden. Zudem kommt es bei der Entwicklung des Embryos durch Gastrulation zu einer Aufspaltung der Zellen in zwei Zellschichten (Keimblätter), das Entoderm und das Ektoderm.
Innere Systematik
Als basalste Gruppe der Gewebetiere gelten heute nicht mehr die Nesseltiere, sondern die Rippenquallen, die systematische Stellung der Placozoa, früher mit den Schwämmen als Gewebelose vereint, ist unsicher. Eine Verwandtschaft mit den Nesseltieren wird vermutet. Folgendes Kladogramm gibt die wahrscheinlichen Verwandtschaftsverhältnisse wieder[1]:
