Die Hürbe ist ein 7 km langer, rechter Zufluss der Brenz auf der Schwäbischen Alb im Landkreis Heidenheim.

Name
Der Name Hürbe leitet sich wohl vom althochdeutschen Wort horo beziehungsweise vom mittelhochdeutschen Wort hurwin ab, was soviel wie Sumpf oder Morast bedeutet. Die Urbrenz, welche einst durch das Hürbetal floss, sowie der im 19. Jahrhundert endgültig trockengelegte Hürbener See, schufen dieses Feuchtgebiet.

Der Hürbetopf
Der Hürbetopf, auch Roßwedde genannt, befindet sich am Fuße des Hohen Felsen in Hürben. Es handelt sich um eine aufgestaute Karstquelle. Sie schüttet im Durchschnitt 60 Liter pro Sekunde.
Verlauf
Nur wenige Meter nach ihrer Quelle, wird die Hürbe durch den linksseitig mündenden Häuselbach verstärkt. Die Hürbe fließt in südöstlicher Richtung durch Hürben, Burgberg und Hermaringen und mündet südlich von Hermaringen unterhalb der Ruine Ravensburg in die Brenz. Die Stelle der Hürbemündung wurde früher St. Josen-Furt genannt und diente im Mittelalter als nordwestlicher Grenzpunkt des Herzogtums Bayern. Erst ab Burgberg ist die Hürbe fast ganzjährig wasserführend, oberhalb nur nach starken Niederschlägen oder bei Schneeschmelze. Südlich von Hürben mündet das aufgrund seiner Höhlen und prähistorischen Funde bekannte Lonetal.
