Jackie Joyner-Kersee
Jackie Joyner-Kersee (* 3. März 1962 in East St. Louis, Illinois) ist eine ehemalige US-amerikanische Weitspringerin, Siebenkämpferin und Olympiasiegerin.
Sie gewann bei den Olympischen Spielen insgesamt 6 Medaillen: 1988 Gold im Siebenkampf und im Weitsprung, 1992 Gold im Siebenkampf, hinzu kommen eine Silbermedaille im Siebenkampf 1984 und zwei Bronzemedaillen im Weitsprung (1992 und 1996). Außerdem wurde sie insgesamt vier mal Weltmeisterin, je zweimal im Siebenkampf (1987 und 1993) und im Weitsprung (1987 und 1991).
Sie war die erste Athletin, die im Siebenkampf die Marke von 7000 Punkten übertraf, und zwar 1986 während der Goodwill Games. Ihre 1988 erzielten 7291 Punkte bedeuten heute[1] noch Weltrekord. Außerdem wurden die fünf besten Leistungen im Siebenkampf überhaupt von ihr erzielt. Bis heute war Jackie Joyner-Kersee die beste 200-Meter-Läuferin im Rahmen eines Siebenkampfs (22,30 Sekunden 1988 in Indianapolis) und die beste Weitspringerin im Rahmen eines Siebenkampfs (7,27 Meter 1988 in Seoul).
Jackie Joyner-Kersee heiratete 1986 ihren Trainer Bob Kersee, ihre Schwägerin war Florence Griffith-Joyner. Auch ihr Bruder Al Joyner ist als Dreispringer ein ehemaliger herausragender Leichtathlet.
1987 wurde Joyner-Kersee mit der Sportler des Jahres-Auszeichnung von Associated Press geehrt.
