James Van Alen

James Henry Van Alen (19 septembre 1902 – 3 juillet 1991) est connu pour être le fondateur du International Tennis Hall of Fame, le plus grand musée de tennis au monde.

Biographie

Il est né et décédé à Newport, Rhode Island. Poète, musicien, éditeur militant et conteur, Jimmy Van Alen a atteint une grande notoriété dans le tennis. Ses principaux legs sont l'invention du premier Jeu décisif et la fondation de l'International Tennis Hall of Fame au Casino de Newport, qu'il donna à la Fédération américaine de tennis en 1954, le sauvant de la construction d'un parking. Il est décédé après s'être cogné la tête lors d'une chute à son domicile. Ce jour-là, dans une demi-finale de Wimbledon, Stefan Edberg s'inclinait face à Michael Stich 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-2), donc sans perdre son service. Plus tard, après avoir appris la mort de Van Alen, Edberg déclara: « S'il n'avait pas vécu, Michael et moi serions peut-être encore en train de jouer là-bas ».

Lettris

Lettris is a curious tetris-clone game where all the bricks have the same square shape but different content. Each square carries a letter. To make squares disappear and save space for other squares you have to assemble English words (left, right, up, down) from the falling squares.
