José Bento Azevedo Carvalho, né le 19 septembre 1973 à Vila do Conde, est un coureur cycliste portugais. Coureur professionnel de 1994 à 2008, il a participé à cinq Tours de France de 2002 à 2006, dont deux en tant que coéquipier du septuple vainqueur Lance Armstrong (2004 et 2005). Il a terminé sixième et cinquième du classement général en 2002 et 2004. Depuis 2010, il est directeur sportif au sein de l'équipe américaine Team RadioShack.

Il débute sa carrière professionnelle en 1994 à Boavista. En 1997, alors qu'il avait le maillot jaune sur les épaules, à l'issue de l'étape reine de ce Tour du Portugal, il descend jusqu'à la 20e place du classement général.
Il termine sa carrière dans l'équipe Benfica en 2008.
