Lettris

Lettris is a curious tetris-clone game where all the bricks have the same square shape but different content. Each square carries a letter. To make squares disappear and save space for other squares you have to assemble English words (left, right, up, down) from the falling squares.

Boggle gives you 3 minutes to find as many words (3 letters or more) as you can in a grid of 16 letters. You can also try the grid of 16 letters. Letters must be adjacent and longer words score better. See if you can get into the grid Hall of Fame !

ÉTYMOLOGIE

Ital. pulcinella ; napolit. polecenella. Le Vocabulaire napolitain, 1789, raconte ainsi l'origine de ce nom : " Dans le siècle passé, une bande de comédiens ambulants fut assaillie de quolibets par des vendangeurs près d'Acerra, ville della campagna felice ; ils eurent le dessous à cause d'un certain paysan nommé Puccio d'Aniello, qui triompha d'eux et qui avait une figure de charge, nez long, visage noirci par le soleil. Consolés de leur défaite, ils eurent l'idée d'associer cet homme à leur troupe. Celui-ci accepta et eut le plus grand succès. De là son masque, son rôle et son nom sont entrés au théâtre sous le titre de Polecenella. " D'autres au contraire rejettant cette anecdote, croient que ce mot vient de pulcino, poussin, dérivé du lat. pullus, et n'étant dans le principe qu'une expression de caresse : mon poulot. D'autres enfin parlent d'un Paulo Cinella, qui aurait joué les Polichinelles du temps de Charles d'Anjou, à Naples.
