Pregón
El pregón es un acto de promulgación en voz alta de un asunto de interés para el público y, particularmente, el acto con el que se inicia una celebración.[1]
Historia
El origen del pregón fue el anuncio de servicios y productos al público. Era una herramienta necesaria entre los comerciantes ambulantes, que así anunciaban su paso y la mercancía de la que disponían.[2]
Pronto se acompañaron de música, pasando de un modo de venta para convertirse en un género musical.[2]
El pregonero tuvo su auge al final del siglo XIX y comienzos del siglo XX, para ir desapareciendo de las ciudad paulatinamente con el tamaño de los edificios, otros sistemas de comunicación o la propia inseguridad.[2]
Costumbre
La costumbre del pregón parece estar relacionada con el clima, dado que a bajas temperaturas la disposición de los vendedores, que dieron lugar a esta costumbre, a vocear en la calle al aire libre es menor.[3]
Existen pregones en la mayoría de los países del Mediterráneo. La costumbre también es abundante en América Latina.[3]
