- The correct title of this article is titsup.com. The initial letter is shown capitalized due to technical restrictions.
titsup.com is a humorous neologism popular in on-line discussions and the publication The Register used to describe failed businesses and inoperative websites. The term is derived from a combination of the military jargon tits up and the suffix .com (as used to refer to internet start-ups).
Tits up itself is used in the United States military as a more vulgar form of the term "toes up ---" more commonly referred to by its NATO phonetic alphabet initialism "tango uniform ---" which is used to describe personnel or equipment that has been killed or destroyed, or is in otherwise less-than-optimal condition. The term has been backronymed as "total inability to support usual performance." Tits up has also been attributed to a usage in the RAF; apparently, a faulty attitude indicator displays a curvaceous W.
The actual domain is registered to somebody in the Cayman Islands, and goes to a parking page with links to pornographic websites.
